Hi there - I am in Australia and have not attended before. Are any of you who have been before able to share with me the learning highlights of previous InstrucureCons? What have been the best presentations and why? Thanks
In researching about InstructureCon, I found these two links from last year really helpful:
InstructureCon 2015 Public Postmortem
What you take away will highly depend on what you come in with and what you are looking for. For example, I am really interested in learning how to use API's and tweaking Canvas in general, whereas you may be more interested in best practices for managing large courses or modifying courses for mobile use.
What I mean by "what you come in with", is that each presentation has a target user with incoming abilities, just like any course. If you don't know any code, an "Administrative JavaScript" presentation won't be helpful for you. If you are fairly adept at design and course delivery, a course for "Streamlining and Time Management for Instructional Designers" might be just up your alley.
(full disclosure, I have not yet attended an InstructureCon either, but reading these makes me really want to be there!)
Hey caitlin! Janell offered some great advice here. I highly recommend visiting her link to the InstructureCon 2015 Public Postmortem and coming back to this thread here and @mentioning some of those users you see offering great feedback in that thread and encouraging them to share their advice here!
Another great place to gather insight from others is by checking out the LIVE experiences they shared at the conference is by visiting the Blog: InstructureCon 2015
Apparently @mfgu has been to InstructureCon the past 5 years (I'm pretty sure that's all of 'em!) so I'd love to hear his thoughts on this thread! Here's his post from last years conf: Five years and counting
Here's some other great advice that may be insightful!

HI Caitlin,
First and foremost, come prepared to be wowed! It is an experience like no other. This will be my third conference and it just keeps getting bigger and crazier. Here are my best tips:
Bring an assortment of clothing- warm and cool weather gear. The evenings can be chilly, so I always be sure to have a light jacket and pair of pants. Sunscreen, lotion, saline nasal spray and water are all important things to keep close at hand as well. I am from a lower altitude (about 2,000 ft. above sea level) and I dry out like mad when I am at these high altitude conferences. The sun is also crazy there, so the sunscreen is a must.
And, while the information isn't posted yet, the pre-conference workshops are always a great thing to experience. It is a lot of great information, especially for anyone newer to Canvas, but also great for everyone else as well.
Mary
