Adding Person to Course

I am having an issue adding a person to my course. She created a free account as a teacher. When I tried to add her as a student to my course, I received this message: "The email address provided conflicts with an existing user's email that is awaiting verification. Please add the user by either SIS ID or Login ID." I tried the Login ID and received the same message.
Do I have to wait until she receives a verification email from Canvas?

Yes, anytime that message pops up when you attempt to add a user, it means they must complete their registration via the email that was sent to them from Canvas when they registered for their account. Upon completing registration officially, they should have no problem joining any of your courses.
