Hi all, I was testing out some of the discussion summaries functionality and have this feedback:
Scroll to summary on button click
When the ‘Summarise’ button is first clicked, the generated summary might not be immediately visible if the main discussion post contains a lot of text. To improve user experience, the screen could automatically scroll down to the summary section upon clicking ‘Summarise’.
Generation limit
Currently, there is a limit of 25 summary generations per user per day. I understand from Tier 1 Support, that once this limit is reached, users must wait until the next day to generate a summary for any discussion in any course. When the limit is reached, the message "Sorry, you have reached the maximum number of summary generations allowed (25) for now. Please try again later" appears. It could be helpful to provide clearer information on the number of generations allowed, such as a countdown or limit bar, and to specify the parameters of this limit (e.g., per user, per day etc.) and when it resets. This way, users will know when they can try again and understand how the limit affects their ability to generate discussion summaries across courses.
User-refined summary
If a user customizes the summary by inputting their own text, the refined summary is lost when the page is refreshed, reverting to the general summary. Would it more user-friendly if the customized summary remained intact after a page refresh and is only lost if the user refines it again or disables the summary?
Disabling the summary
When the ‘Disable Summary’ button is selected, it currently disables the summary for all instructors in the course. It might be more beneficial if the summary is only disabled for the specific user who selects the button?
Feedback with thumbs up / down
It could be clearer to users that the thumbs up and thumbs down icons are for providing feedback on the generated summary. Adding text or a tooltip like ‘Rate this summary’ beside the icons might help.
