Last year I could sync assignments with no grades to powerschool. This year they will not sync unless I enter a grade for one student. How do I fix this?
Hello! I have synced ungraded assignments by doing the following:
1. Clicking "Grade Sync" Tab
2. Clicking "Utilities"
3. Clicking "Remaster Grade Passback"
4. Selecting the assignment that was having problems.
5. Clicking apply.
This may not work for everyone though! Also, sorry about number points. Used to giving instructions to middle schoolers.
Thanks so much- love the clear instructions.
Unfortunately, I tried that and the assignment doesn't go to powerschool- says no grades synced. I have to put in one grade and then it will sync over for everyone. I am wanting to do this for items that I don't grade through canvas but I want them in canvas as assignments.
I'll keep looking.
I also tried this and it did not work. I used the Help Chat to discuss it, and they said that it was a PowerSchool issue. They also didn't really understand why it was a problem.
I am trying to find a way to let Powerschool know that they should fix it back- I don't need to enter all of my grades in Canvas. But I would like to only create an assignment ONCE and have it go to powerschool so I can enter my scores.
@hawkinsdianne ...
Full disclosure...I've not use PowerSchool myself, so I don't have experience syncing grades from Canvas to that system. However, I wanted to share this link with you to the PowerSchool Guides here in the Community...in hopes that maybe one or more of these will be helpful to you. The Guides for instructors are listed at the bottom.
PowerSchool and Canvas - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
I'm sure that there will be others with more experience using PowerSchool will chime in here, so I'll defer to them for additional help. But, I wanted to give you these links just in case. Hope they help!
I have a ticket in about this but have not had resolution so far.
I am having this same issue in Infinite Campus. I believe the problem lies with Canvas, not our SIS platform of choice. This behavior is very time consuming since we have to manually categorize assignments in IC when they sync, but they only sync as students do them. Until recently, Canvas would let you sync the entire course from the start even when no assignments had been attempted by students.
My guess is Canvas is trying to reduce the load on their servers by only syncing grades that have been graded, but the result is very time consuming for teachers at my location, and one more thing we have to add to our daily list of stuff that should be automatic, like it always was in the past.
