question group not linking to question bank

Hi @DavidShelton1,

It sounds like you may be having trouble building a quiz, but I'm not really sure as your post just has a title.  Would you be able to provide more info about what you're encountering difficulty with?  Are you a teacher?  Are you getting an error, or just need some guidance with how to do something?  The more info you can provide, the better the advice and help we can give back.

Thanks for the contact. I used Canvas for over 10 years but retired and moved to Colorado. My new school doesn't use Canvas so I opened up a free-to-teachers account. I imported my old course via a download I made before leaving. My present problem is that when I go to edit or make new quizzes and I try to make a question group, I click on link to question bank, they pop up, but they won't link to the question group. I think it may be because I'm free-to-teacher rather than paid, but I'm just trying to find out. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi @DavidShelton1,

Apologies, I did not see your reply earlier!  Are you following the steps outlined in the  How do I create a quiz with a question group linke... - Instructure Community  guide?  I have never experienced problems with that feature myself, and it should work fine even in the free-for-teacher Canvas as far as I know.  If you are following the guide, please let us know where exactly you're getting stuck (I assume it's #2 under Find Question Bank, but always better to know for sure).

Thanks again, but I know how to create quizzes using question banks, done it for years, it just won't let me. I get all the way to where it has the link to assign a specific question bank, it brings up my banks, I click on the desired bank, it turns gray but it just won't actually link it so I can any farther.

Hi @DavidShelton1,

Thanks for the info.  I shared the guide to just help figure out where exactly things weren't working right.  So it sounds like you're able to click the bank you want from the list of choices at least.  From that point, so you not see the "Select Bank" button at the bottom at all, is it grayed out, or are you able to click it but then nothing happens?

Actually I see the "Select Bank", I click on it, the banks pop up, I select the bank I want, it grays out but won't let me actually use it.
