current term grades only in grade pull down menu

This is my 3rd year with canvas observing my 2 kiddos. When I go to look at grades from a class, the pull down menu has EVERY class they've had for the last 3 years. Does anyone know how to just make the pull down menu the current term?? I have starred only the classes I want and un-starred the rest but there are no changes from that.
Any help is appreciated,

This may be a question to ask your local school's Canvas team (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas), as the setup for courses, access, dates, and similar things is all configured by them and can be very different from school to school (making it very hard for us in the community to offer good advice on).
