Why does Inbox "body" text ignore return-key-strokes and change all text to one block of text?

Inbox allows me to type a message using the return key to make paragraphs but then ignores them when the message is sent. The recipient only gets a single block of text regardless of how many paragraphs were entered. So a message composed as:
Dear Xyz,
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat.
Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.
Sincerely, Me
is sent as:

Apparently there was a bug with the latest update. They rolled it back until it can be fixed.
