You can just start the browser and do a "Check for update" to see if a newer version is available: https://support.respondus.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409607243035-How-to-update-LockDown-Browser
A few times a year there is an auto-update required, and when that happens, the browser will tell you that it is updating when you first start it.
