Unable to upload files or images

No matter the size or location I get an error message that says "Error: Unable to transmit file to the storage service. The service may be down or you may need to re-login to Canvas."

I checked the site that shows if anything is down and all is good there, and re-logging in doesn't change anything. This error has been showing up for the past week, and it is a new teacher account with no files uploaded yet. 

No response from Canvas Support email.

Hello hjgg, when my teachers report this issue, I have them check their Files to see if they are exceeding the allot space. Solution has been to remove files that are not needed and it usually solves this issue.

Like I mentioned I have no files uploaded thus far, it is a new account... so there are no files to delete or exceed the allot space.

I realize this is an old post but someone else may experience this problem since I just did. Solution for me was to switch from my home satellite-based internet service with its slow data latency and instead use my phone for internet connection. Odd, but this has never been an issue before and I've uploaded many, many files using my satellite internet service.

A faculty member at my institution has just run into this problem. He's using 0% of his course and personal file storage and has tried re-starting and re-logging in - but that hasn't solved the issue.

I just ran into this problem, trying to upload a ~1.5 MB PPT file while still having well over a GB available and receiving this error.

The solution was to close the file I was trying to upload. I realized I had the file open on my desktop, which I suppose was causing the error. Closed the PowerPoint and, voila!, uploaded without issue. May be other variables that can cause this error, of course. I hope this helps someone.
