Turnitin doesn't create similarity report for files uploaded from OneDrive

We create assignments in Canvas and have added Turnitin integration for plagiarism checks. When a student adds a submission via OneDrive LTI integration a similarity report is not created in the SpeedGrader. If they upload the file directly then a report is created. 

OneDrive integration is very convenient for the students to add their submissions directly to Canvas but if the Turnitin integration doesn't work it becomes useless. How could this be fixed?

This would be news to me if documents from OneDrive would be able to be submitted via Turnitin.  I do know there is a LTI external tool integration for OneDrive and another for the Turnitin LTI, but I'm not aware that those two external tools "talk" to each other in the way you describe.  In my past role as a Canvas administrator in higher education, we had Turnitin integrated into our Canvas environment, but I don't recall ever seeing any functionality that would allow submissions from OneDrive.  Students would always need to upload a document to the Turnitin interface that was saved on their computer hard drive.  So, what you describe...

...does sound correct to me.

Thanks Chris! I raised a ticket with Turnitin and they are looking into this. It is confusing for students and staff if a document can be uploaded directly from OneDrive but then it won't show similarity report. Is there a way to turn off the option for OneDrive and Google uploads? I couldn't find it.

Without being able to see exactly what your setup is for your account, I'm assuming that students might have tabs for OneDrive and Google Drive in an assignment where they could choose a file they've got on either of those accounts and submit it to you (the instructor).  As far as removing those options, I'm also assuming that both OneDrive and the Google integration have been configured at the Canvas account level.  This would mean that you couldn't remove them at the course level.  One way to check this in your course is to click on your "Settings" course navigation menu, and then click on the "Apps" tab.  Next, click on the "View App Configurations" button.  If the Google Apps and the Microsoft OneDrive apps listed on your screen have the "i" icon at the far right of those rows, you can only click on that icon to see where it is placed within your course.  This means the app was installed at the account level, and if your Canvas admin removed it, it would remove it from all courses in the account.  If instead it has a cog wheel icon with a little triangle arrow pointing down, then that particular app has been installed at the course level, and there are generally some other options available if you click on that icon.

I hope this helps to explain things a bit.

o.k., so then you'd need to have a discussion with your school's Canvas administrator to discuss what options might be available.  Since the apps are installed at the account level, if they were removed, then it would remove them from all courses and not just yours.  This might have negative consequences because there may be folks at your school who use those integrations regularly.  You might just need to provide your students with very specific instructions on how to use Turnitin when submitting work to you for plagiarism checking and grading.
