Track student time in Canvas

I am required to report student attendance weekly in hours and minutes. Is there a way to determine how much time a student actively engaged in Canvas on a specified day or week? It appears Canvas tracks in the same way a student who logs in but does nothing for three hours and a student who scrolls, types, clicks, records, submits, etc. for three hours. Is that true?

I'm also trying to find a solution to this. I chatted with a Canvas rep today and they said they aren't aware of a way to track hours within Canvas. I asked if they had recommendations for other tools since they don't have one and they replied "I'm not allowed to recommend outside products but there is always google sheets. You can protect it based on users or a password, that's pretty secure." I'm trying to find a better alternative to google sheets, does anyone have recommendations for other tools I can suggest?
