Syllabus page allows access to locked modules

I just discovered a way students can access assignments, quizzes, and discussions that are in modules they do not yet have access to.   I set requirements and prerequisites for all the modules but then had a student turning in assignments that were in modules they should not have had access to.  My IT Canvas person found that the student could use the course summary on the syllabus page to access them.  Seems to me that the student should not be able to do that.  I turned off the course summary, but it's useful for students to be able to see what's coming up in later modules.  However, surely they should not be able to access an item if it is in a module they have not finished the prerequisites for?

My question: is this a new glitch or has it been around forever?  I rarely use module requirements and prerequisites, so I can't tell.

I am not aware of whether this is a new/old glitch, a lapse in foresight, or something else. I would suggest submitting a ticket to Canvas in case it is a glitch. If they identify it is not a glitch, then submit it as an Idea for improvement.
