Roll Call Changing Statuses

We are marking students present and absent in roll call, some tutors have found that they marked a student absent for a tutorial but when they went back to the register the following day to check or update something the absent has changed to present. Is there something we need to do in settings, is there any way the system could do this in error or can this only be done manually and someone may be changing records in error?

Are any of these situations where a student is enrolled in more than e section in the course? We have had that happen before where a student was marked absent for one section, but present for another and then there was confusion.

they are in both Lecture and Tutorial but their status has only changed in the tutorial section and not the lecture section - i feel like this may be human error but staff are saying they having changed anything so am at a bit of a loss

I wonder if it might be a case where two tutors are doing something at the same time and it's saving weird. I would try and get some specific cases of this and, if it continues, reach out to Canvas support, as they will be able to look into the interaction details.
