Remove "Links to an External site" when pasting links

If I copy and paste a link from another canvas page, it brings the link itself as well as the text, which is lovely, but every time it pastes it it includes the text "Links to an external site" as part of the link text. This is potentially useful for students who have never used the internet before, but rarely helpful otherwise, especially when pasting a list of links or a paragraph with multiple links in it. Is there any way to turn it off by default?

Nope.  I've experienced the same thing you have with those links, and I always just have to manually remove that text from the links.

This should not be marked as a "solution" since it does not solve the problem; it just acknowledges that yes this is a known bug. The question is, when and how will this be fixed? If it's not on the agenda to be fixed, would it be considered a "feature" request?

I'm not sure that I would consider it a "bug".  I don't work for Instructure, but this *may* be intended behavior.  To answer your question, though...yes, if you wanted to see this changed, one way is to submit a Feature Idea request here in the Community...so that people can evaluate it and give it a star rating (just one of the many ways that Instructure gets feedback on what people are wanting in Canvas).

Here's my post to the Ideas page, which seemed most appropriate. You're right it's probably intended behavior but it seems like undesirable behavior to me, and I can think of very few use cases where it would be desired. (Actually I can't think of any at all). I did look through the known issues posts and it doesn't seem like anyone else has addressed this before.
