New Quizzes - Build Function & Question Banks

I have designed an essay quiz for my students for a final novel unit. There are four question banks I am using for this. Each question bank has 10 essay prompts.

My question is, if I use the "Build" function for this quiz, if a student needs a second attempt, will the quiz pull RANDOM questions from the bank for those questions that went unanswered, or will it save the selections that it gave the students the first time?

I want students to be able to have multiple attempts to demonstrate their mastery, but I don't want them to be able to look up responses to questions they didn't get to if they run out of time.

Hi @BrandynHawkes,

If you're using the "build on last attempt" option, my understanding is that the second attempt would have the same questions as the first attempt (this is called out specifically in the Build on last attempt in New Quizzes - Instructure Community - 581741 (canvaslms.com) blog post).

Without "build on last attempt" enabled, each attempt would re-draw randomly from the bank.

Hope this helps!

-Chris
