Name Change Parent Observer Account

Hello,

     I legally changed my name in December after a divorce. I'm a parent observer in Canvas for my two kids. I need to update my name and username in Canvas. I don't have the ability to change anything in my profile. The school Canvas admin says she is not able to change anything on a parent account. Who do I contact to get this updated? Or maybe I need to delete the account and start over but I'm not seeing anywhere to do that.

Do you remember if your account was created by your school or if you created it yourself? I may be able to help you, though your Admin can change your name for you. 🙂

@CommunityForums Hi! I am having this same issue. I set up my own account and the school says they can’t help me change the username. My old email address is currently my username on my parent observer account and I am changing that email address. I’ve updated the primary email in the account settings already, but cannot find a way to edit the username. Thank you!

@Ashleydhudson10 - Depending on the school, the username may be locked. Please email community@instructure.com and we'll take a closer look. This will keep your information private and outside of this thread. Thanks!
