Multi-tenants Google LTI 1.3 in Canvas

Would love to hear from campuses using Google Assignments LTI 1.3 within Canvas that run two Google Tenants (employees and students)

Does the Google Assignments LTI 1.3 feature within Canvas work with multi-tenants?

Issue:

When an instructor creates a Google Assignment LTI 1.3 assignment within Canvas, by using the External Tool submission type, students are unable to log in and link their school Google account/email. Students receive an error stating, "Can't access Assignments with this Google Account - To continue, switch to your school-issued Google Account"

We have confirmed this with numerous students.

When students use a personal (Gmail) account, they are able to link and submit assignments. This is extremely problematic. We are awaiting a response from Google. It has been over 3 months.

Our college runs two Google tenants. Employees are on a different tenant than students. Could this be the issue?

Is any college successfully using Google Assignments LTI 1.3 within Canvas that run two Google Tenants (employees and students)

Hi Heather, it does sound like the issue could be caused by the two different tenants. We only have one internal, for both staff and students, and don't have this issue -- however we have it blocked so outside/personal accounts can't be used.   Not sure if this is of any help at all, but wanted to offer what little I know.
