Mass-assign Missing for an Assignment

Skyward has a feature that allows teachers to press a button and mark all ungraded assignments in that column with a 0 AND missing indicator.  This feature would work for assignments that require no submission or on paper and save teachers time having to manually check the missing indicator for each student assignment.

This would add functionality to set a default grade of "0 and missing" at the same time - as an option to the existing Set Default Grade functionality.

@HenryLevel, I remember when the Missing option was added to Canvas, and there was a brief time when it was applied to no submission (and no paper) assignments. This understandably upset those students who had turned in their assignments on time but their instructor had not yet posted grades to Canvas, and the decision was made not to apply the missing policy to those assignment types. You bring up an interesting idea to give instructors the option to simultaneously add the Missing tag to assignments when given a default grade of zero.

The best option is to suggest that as an idea to improve Canvas. The details for this process are on the page How do Ideas and Themes work in the Instructure Community?

I'm not sure I understand the rules / norms of the community board here.  I thought that posting this here was an idea to improve Canvas.  I followed the link and I don't see anything about how to post ideas specific to the purpose of improving Canvas.

To be clear, all I'm hoping for is a quick button that we could press on an individual assignment that auto-assigns the missing tag to all unscored / unsubmitted entries in that assignment.  This would make most sense in the Set Default Grade pop-up box.  A simple check box could allow the teacher to mark as missing while setting the default grade as zero.  With 120 students in my course, this would save me the trouble of scrolling to each empty cell and clicking the arrow to click the box to assign missing individually.

Yes, I'm sorry I did not make that more clear. Your suggestion for improvement won't likely be treated as a bug but as a feature request. The Instructure developers value our suggestions and use the Ideas/Themes process to collect those suggestions. That's why I provided a link to the Community page that describes the process. Your description of the change you want to see ("quick button that we could press...") is excellent wording to include in your idea.
