How to open LTI 1.3 Advantage deep link in the same tab?

My team has successfully implemented deep linking with LTI 1.3 Advantage links. However, whenever you click on a created link, it opens in a new tab rather than just opening in that tab or within the iframe. Is there any way to force LTI 1.3 Advantage deep links to open within the same tab/iframe? In LTI 1.1 they automatically open in the same tab/iframe and I would love if I could implement that functionality in this 1.3.
