How to join "user_dim" with "role_dim" table?

Hi, Canvas team,

We have encountered a problem. We want to know the role of a specific "user_id". We are able to find the "user_id"  in the "user_dim" table and role "name" in the "role_dim" table? But we haven't found any key to join the two tables to match a "user_id" with its role "name"? 

Could you please tell us how we can join the two tables?

Hi @JiaqiCheng 

The role_dim refers specifically to course roles.  So, the user does not have have a role except in relation to a specific course enrollment, the role_id is part of the enrollment for that specific course_id and user_id.
