Hi Canvas Community,
I’m looking for a way to lock student browser windows during tests and quizzes in Canvas — similar to how Google Forms can restrict users to one tab and prevent switching.
Is there a built-in way to do this in Canvas or through a supported integration? I’m hoping to minimize distractions and prevent academic dishonesty during assessments.
If this isn’t currently possible within Canvas, could someone point me in the right direction to submit a feature request? I think this would be a powerful tool for teachers, especially in remote or 1:1 device settings.
Thanks in advance for your help and insights!

Hi @rick_lines,
Canvas does not natively have this type of functionality and requires using a third-party tool (like Respondus LockDown Browser or Honorlock).
You could submit it as an idea in the Canvas Community using the steps documented at How do I create a new idea in the Instructure Community? - Instructure Community - 2986 but I do not believe Instructure (the makers of Canvas) have any plans to do it.
