How does Canvas Late Submission Policy work with external tools?

I was reading about the Canvas Late Submission Policy.

How does it work with external tools such as SIMnet when it syncs its score with Canvas? Does it deduct the points for an assignment submitted after the due date in Canvas? For example, if the due date is Tuesday and the assignment is submitted before the deadline but doesn't post in Canvas until after the deadline, does it deduct points?

What if the assignment is submitted after the due date in the vendor system and then posts to Canvas, does it deduct the points because it was late? 

If the vendor system deducts points, does Canvas also deduct points?

Hi @jawmedina,

The ability to comply with a late submission policy can be hit-or-miss when it comes to external tools. This is because external tools need to implement the functionality in their integration. In my experience, external tools using LTI 1.1 could not implement this functionality but external tools using LTI 1.3 can implement this functionality.

Have you reached out to SIMnet Support (which I believe is McGraw-Hill) for assistance?
