I can't believe that Canvas doesn't have a way to search my course materials. That is a quite negligent oversight for a system of this nature.
My instructor referred to a previous lesson, but I don't remember which lesson it was, all I have is a word to search by. And there is no search. So, I am left clicking through dozens of links trying to figure out which one it was (a small) part of.
Canvas can be confusing enough, it should at least have searchable content.

Hi @ZeSteele -
You're correct. There isn't a notable search feature in Canvas right now.
As part of our Idea Process, there is a thread that is Open for conversation, and I hope you add your comments and rate (star) the idea. I understand it's not technically a solution, but hopefully, your involvement with the request will help bring the feature to Canvas someday.Comprehensive Course Search Tool (Searching Course Content for a Topic)
Another weird way to go about it, if the suggested method doesn't work is doing this: Like a list of your classmate right? Not sure if there's a smarter way to do this, but you can identify the people by going to Canvas and click: Message--> Compose a Message---> Select Course--> then the recipient field would pop up. Click on the address book icon (very right hand side) of the recipient field, then select Students
