How do I prevent calendar events from being listed in the student to-do list?

I am using a Calendar event for each day to post what we do in class (the Canvas event mirrors what I write on the board for students to see in class). Events work well for this, however, each event automatically shows up in the student's to-do list on their dashboard screen. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I couldn't find it in the Event settings nor the course settings. Thanks!

Hi @JAMESRYANPALMER !  I do not know of a way to stop it from showing up in student's To Do list.  The fact that it auto-populates is something I like about Canvas.  This link has some good information about when to use Calendar.  https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Basics-Guide/What-is-the-Calendar/ta-p/76

Have you tried putting the information into a module?  You can set you modules up by week and add a page each day with the information that you are currently putting into the calendar.  This will give the students 1 place to go to find their needed information without putting the page on the To Do list.  Here's a link about using modules.  https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/tkb-p/Instructor#Modules

Thanks for your reply. I am using modules, but not by week - I have module set up by unit, which makes more sense for my class. I appreciate the thinking around how to get the info to students in a different way. What I really want, however, is a visual way based on date (i.e., calendar), not a list (i.e., modules). It looks like there isn't a way to do that without having Canvas add the event to students to-do list. 

I agree that having an event be added to the students' to-do lists can be great, I just want the option to have it added there or not. Thanks again for your help!
