Is there is a way to hide the OneDrive LTI course navigation button by default?
Solved! Go to Solution.
@admin-pdk you can achieve this...:
If you create new courses from a template course (course settings > enable as a course template), you can hide the LTI by changing the visibility in course navigation settings. New courses created will have the LTI hidden by default.
For existing courses, I can only think of one method - using the Canvas API. Details here: https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/external_tools.html. If you're not familiar with the API, your customer success manager may be able to help with this.
Yes, assuming you are a teacher and you want to hide it from your students.
Click into your Canvas course.
On the menu on the left side of your screen, click on "Settings." It should be at the bottom; you might have to scroll down to see it.
Click on "Navigation" at the top.
Click on the link(s) you want to remove from the stundets' view and drag them below the text that says "Drag items here to hide them from students."
You can also rearrange the links in yoru course, but beware. Many schools like to have certain links in a certain order in all their Canvas classes.
Hello,
No, I am a system admin. I want the one drive lti tab hidden for ALL courses by default. I want to make the instructors have to select it in the navigation and turn it on if the want to utilize it in their class.
Thank you.
Hi @admin-pdk ...
I am unsure of how the OneDrive LTI is set up, but sometimes third-party companies that offer LTI integrations with Canvas may be able to provide you with some custom XML that you can use during the setup of the LTI. I know in my former position as a Canvas administrator in higher education, we were able to do this with our Zoom/Canvas LTI integration. We wanted the "Zoom" course navigation button disabled by default, and instructors could enable it per course if they wanted to use it in their courses. You might want to take a look at the following blog from @jperkins:
Managing LTI Course Navigation Visibility
Hopefully the information there will be helpful to you. Good luck!
