Howdy,
In all of our courses we have an icon on our home page that takes students to their grades. The grades page is hidden in the Navigation so they have to use the icon on the home page.
In the canvas student app students can click on the icon to get to their grades.
However, in some of our courses when a student clicks on this icon in the canvas student app, a message pops up "That page is disable in this course".
I cannot find the setting related to this so I can enable the grades page for all students in all courses.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Doug
Hi @DougWalker ,
Thank you for posting on the Instructure Community!
Regardless if the button is enabled or not via the course navigation, all students are able to access their course grades by clicking the 'View Grades' button on their dashboard page. While teachers have the option to "disable" the button, it actually just hides it, as teachers can't disable the actual gradebook inside of Canvas. Students can still add /grades to the end of the course URL to view their grades in any course. This applies to computers / laptops.
When it comes to the Canvas Student app, however, the only solution I have is to require teachers to enable the grades button in all of their courses in order for the page to not be disabled. I'm honestly unsure why the behavior between the app and the desktop are different, but that would be the one solution I have.
I hope this helps a bit, reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns! We're happy to help.
All the best,
Noah
Hi @NoahBoswell ,
Thanks for the information.
If the grades page is not disabled when hidden by navigation, and cannot be disabled then it is an odd issue we have.
When using the app some of our courses do not have the issue, and some of our courses do. This is why I thought it might have been a setting I didn't know about.
Appreciate your help.
Cheers,
Doug
Hey @DougWalker ,
You're very welcome, glad to help! Have you considered reaching out to your Customer Success Manager? I wonder if they'd be able to provide more information for you that would be geared towards your institution specifically.
I wish you the best of luck!
Noah
