My teachers are not able to create Google Assignments today.
We are able to select "Google LTI" as submission type, access the Google Drive, and select a file. However, when we press the button to return to Canvas, we receive this error:
"One or more content items sent by this external app failed to process correctly. These have not been saved by Canvas, and the reasons for failure are listed below.
lineItem.scoreMaximum is a required field"

Good News: I am able to create a Google Assignment this morning without receiving the error message.
Has anyone heard an official announcement that the issue is fixed?
I haven't heard any official word from Canvas support since they closed my ticket two days ago, saying that this was not a Canvas issue.
This issue has been resolved, and teachers should be able to create assignments using Google Assignments successfully now.
I apologize to those of you that felt discouraged when told by Canvas Support that this was "not a Canvas issue". I know this is a frustrating response, especially when it appears to be a Canvas issue since Google Assignments was working correctly outside of Canvas. I want to offer a little explanation about what the issue was: the Google Assignments LTI changed the way it sent the assignment information to Canvas when the Assignment was being created. Google Assignments never notified or warned Canvas about this upcoming change, so Canvas wasn't even aware of it until users started to report the errors. Canvas has since changed how it handles this LTI's configuration to allow Google Assignments to work properly with Canvas again.
Having the same issue. Here's what Canvas support had to say:
We have had a look into this further and it appears to be a change which has been made on the Google side.
Google is no longer including a scoreMaximum property which is what is causing this message to occur.
We have reached out to Google in regards to this issue to have this addressed. As this is an issue on Google's side, if you need to follow up in regards to this please reach out to Google here https://support.google.com/
The assignment should still however be created after clicking on the "I Understand, Continue" button.
Not ideal, and if the assignment truly still gets created, it would be good for Canvas to eliminate the error message if possible.
Don
Teachers are reporting the same issue here. I must say I find Canvas' response unacceptable.
I know this is a Google product and perhaps the issue is 100% on their end, but to the end-user, the LTI is [ a part of ] Canvas. I truly expect stronger advocacy from Canvas with Google Assignment Support. At least more than the response I received, "We suggest initiating contact with google Support in regards to this issue. Please check out our Canvas Community site for guides/answers to frequently asked questions and contact us should you have other questions regarding Canvas".
The Google support link goes to a page where you can search for help by topic. Guess what, no results returned. I'm here in the community and there are no answers.
So what's the next move? What should the teacher and hundreds of students impacted do now?
Canvas proudly touted this LTI on the front-end, but on the backend-it is extremely difficult to get support.
Disappointed.
P.S. One poster mentioned the message below from Canvas, however, the assignment does not get created:
"The assignment should still however be created after clicking on the "I Understand, Continue" button."
We are being impacted as well.
We are having the same issue and teachers can not post their assignments. Help.
A teacher shared this error with me yesterday. I tested with 2 assignments in my own sandbox. In both cases, the assignment was created as normal after clicking the "Continue" button. When logged in as one of our test students, I was able to open, edit, and submit both assignments. Back in my "teacher" role, I was able to open, grade, and return the Google Assignments. The error is confusing and needs to be resolved, but after clicking Continue, there doesn't seem to be any disruption to the normal assignment creation/submission processes.
That's interesting. I had a teacher select "continue" in her rostered course and the assignment did not load properly. Are you saying your teachers with live classes were able to proceed? I literally sat next to her while she did this.
@tsample yes. I created 2 assignments myself and had no issues after clicking the continue button. Everything functioned as normal in both the teacher and student workflow. Sounds like this is fixed, but I haven't had a change to check myself yet.
