Extra credit assignments with zero total points not transferring to PowerSchool through GPB

Teachers can be very creative in the way they award extra credit... 🙄

Some of our teachers are creating assignments with zero total points and then giving the student a few points on that assignment.  This works in the Canvas grade book but it generates an error in GPB:

PowerSchool Error: 'Score entry points is required.

and won't transfer to PowerSchool. Is there anyway to get an assignment with zero total points to sync?

Unfortunately, zero point assignments cannot be synced. One of the best ways to distribute extra credit is to not sync the extra credit assignment but manually enter the assignment and scores into PowerSchool.

I'm going to suggest a different solution which I saw on another thread last week since we really want to sync these extra credit assignments.

Make the extra credit assignments worth 1 point instead of zero so they will sync.

Give individual students a score above 1 depending on the number of extra credit points you wish to award (2 points for 1 point, 3 points for 2 points, etc.)

For students that don't earn any extra credit on the assignment - excuse the assignment so it won't affect their grade.

Maybe more of a workaround than a solution... but it works for us.
