Display Total next to names

Hello,

We need to be able to view the TOTAL next to the Student Name in the Gradebook.

Yes, I can manually move that column to that location, but as soon as I sort the assignments by date or other, it puts the total back to the extreme right.

Has anyone found a setting for this?

Do you manually drag the Total column with your mouse?

If you click the 3 dot button on the Total column that appears when you hover over it and then choose move to front, it is slightly stickier for me, only moving it back to the end after first sorting again and then refreshing the gradebook.

Hi @DrewReinhardt1,

As you referenced in your question and was mentioned by @Gabriel33, it is possible to use the "Move to Front" option. For others that do not know how, it is described in the  How do I use the Total column in the Gradebook? - Instructure Community - 788  support article.

As far as the ending of your question is concerned, there is nothing to fix. It is a design choice by Canvas to have the "Total" column on the far right-side and they give faculty the ability to move it to the left-side. if you would like to request that it be changed, you can submit an idea to have it be changed.

I have been able to sort assignments without the "Total" column being moved to back to the end. If that is happening to you, you would need to report that to your Canvas team or directly to Canvas Support.
