Discussion Forum - limiting student ability to edit

Canvas used to have a feature in the Discussion Forum settings that prevented students from editing their text once they submitted a post. Students were required to post their responses before seeing any of their classmates' posts (this feature is still available). If students wanted to edit their original post, they had to reply to themselves.
Now, students can edit their posts after submitting them, which defeats the purpose of having them post before viewing the responses of others. Students post anything, read the other responses, and then delete everything they initially submitted to make a "better" post. Many students are corrupting this option by copying and pasting responses from others and calling it original work. Is there any way to restore the block on editing original submissions?

Hi @CynthiaWilkins,
If you hit the settings gear on your course discussions index page (the list of all discussions), you should have the ability to choose whether students can edit/delete their own discussion posts or not (see screenshot)
Hope this helps!
