When using the Import Existing Content feature and "Copy a Canvas Course", the choice to select from a dropdown list of other enrolled courses is no longer an option. It was there 2 days ago when I helped a teacher, and the Canvas documentation shows it in screenshots, but today it is missing, and the only choice is to use a search instead. I'd much rather direct my teachers to sift through a dropdown list that is sorted in reverse chronological order than have them try to search through the alphabet soup of how our division names our courses. Another user posted about this problem a few years ago and someone told that person that once you hit 100 course enrollments, the dropdown box goes away. I'm at 49 enrollments total, including past and present, so I don't believe that answer is correct. Please restore the dropdown box and take away one pain point from our teachers who are trying to switch semesters!

Hi @BarbaraBesal ...
Are you, by chance, also a Canvas administrator? (I couldn't really tell based on your question, but it almost sounds like you are?) I am a Canvas admin, and I am only enrolled in about 20-25 courses, and I also do not have the drop-down menu. That's because I have access to well over 100 courses as a Canvas administrator. So, I'm not sure if you were recently added as a Canvas admin or if you've been an admin for a while now, but that's how this part of Canvas works (by design) based on the Guide you linked to. I'd be curious to know what kind of role you currently have at your school. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon!

Hi, Chris! Thanks for the reply! I am an administrator. I guess I didn't realize that I always work with teachers when I'm showing them how to copy their old courses into new courses. I'd like to sit down with a teacher again to verify, but I guess this means they still have the option that I am missing (which is a bummer for writing directions and sending screenshots) but so long as they do still have it, I can live without it. 🙂 I appreciate your help!
I also have a similar problem as we begin a new semester. The Search for a Course dropdown option is very helpful, especially for our older faculty who need to copy their course content from their previous Canvas course. I hope they bring this back.
