Changing Student Password as Admin

I am a Canvas Site Admin and have been a site admin for other organizations. In those organizations I can reset a students password for them. On my new one I no longer have that option. What do I need to do to make it so I can reset my students passwords as an admin? 

I know its an authentication issue I just dont know what to add to make that feature turn on.

Hi @AndrewHickman,

My guess would be that the Canvas instance you 're currently an admin for may use an external authentication provider rather than Canvas' internal authentication.  If that's the case, only people managing your authentication provider, whatever that is, would be able to reset student passwords, since they are outside of Canvas.  If this is not the case, please let us know so someone could look for other possibilities.

No the site uses only canvas as the internal authentication. From the research I have done it is because I allow students to self enroll in courses and thus I have Self Registration available for All Account Types. I cannot disable that or make it for observers only, because I deal with adults using the system on-demand and need them to be able to self register. I feel I missed a setup piece for me as the site admin to be able to change passwords for those having trouble. I'll attach an authentication page image here as well as what it shows where I should be able to change the student passwords.

Hi @AndrewHickman,

Can you confirm that your admin account has both the "Users - manage login details" and "Users - view list" permissions enabled?  We don't use self-register at all, so I've just been reading some of the guides ( How do I manage a user's login information in an a... - Instructure Community  mostly) trying to come up with possibilities.  If you do have both of those permissions on your admin account, you should have the ability to reset passwords in general.  Nothing in the guides specifically states an exception for self-registered users, but it would not surprise me if there is something flagged for self-registered users that disables some of the functionality.  If that's the case, the guide does mention to contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM), so I think that would be my next suggestion.

I just went to confirm. Our Account Admin permissions have all settings selected. The only thing I found so far from the guides and the chat bot, is that I cant have self registration on for all accounts.
