Can teacher turn off notifications for an entire class

I am a teacher in an ongoing course and would like to add a substantial amount of new content, and provide links to that new content to the home page. When I create a link (even if I haven't published the page/discussion/module) it sends an email notification to the students. These notifications have caused confusion since this is content I haven't intended for the students to see yet. Can I turn off all notifications for the entire course?

No, instructors cannot control student notification settings for the course.
Is your "home page" an actual page, or a module, or the syllabus tool, or something else? Students would not normally be notified about new content that is not available to them yet, but they could be notified about new links being added in an area they do have access to.
