When an Announcement targets a specific section (e.g. a tutorial), do all teaching staff associated with the unit of study 9Canvas course) receive the announcement notification?

There are a few factors that will contribute to determining if other instructors of a course will receive announcements that are sent to a particular section of a Canvas course.
- If the other instructors are enrolled in the target section they may (and likely will) receive a notification regarding the announcement.
- If the other instructors are not enrolled in the target section and the option to limit the user's interaction to members of their section is NOT enabled for that other instructors' enrollments in the course, then they may (and likely will) receive a notification regarding the announcement.
- If the other instructors are not enrolled in the target section and the option to limit the interactions to members of the same course sections is enabled for the other instructors' enrollments, then they will NOT receive a notification about the announcement.
- If the other instructors have notifications for "New Announcements created in your course" disabled, they will NOT receive any notifications regarding the announcement (this is also the reason for the "likely" in the first two situations).
Only individual users can manage their notification settings, so not instructor can enable or disable the notification settings for other users in a course. If you would want to ensure that other instructors in a course do not receive a notification directed to a particular section, it might be better to use the Canvas Inbox to send the message to the targeted users instead of a general announcement.
