How do I lock ANNOUNCEMENTS?

Can you explain what you mean by "lock" announcements?

I have a number of ANNOUNCEMENTs that I imported from a course last semester that I want to lock (prevent students from seeing them) until I'm ready to post them.

Hi again, @berryf ...

It sounds like you would like to delay the announcements so that your students will see them at a give day/time.  Here is a Guide that shows you how to do this:

Also...just a side note, there's no need to put ANNOUNCEMENT in all caps.  😉

My guess is that you'd like to pin the most recent announcements to your Home Page. If so, here are the steps:

1. Go to Course Settings
2. Scroll down until you see more options in tiny blue letters
3. Check the box next to "Show recent announcements on Course home page"
4. Choose the number of announcements you want shown (one or two is usually best)
5. Click on Update Course Details at the bottom of the page

*** To the Canvas Development Team -  I have probably explained these steps to 30 different instructors. It's virtually impossible to find this function. It's not intuitive. Why not create a gear icon for the Announcements section? ***
