IPad Canvas Teacher App - grading highlighter does not work

The highlighter tool does not work on the iPad using Canvas Teacher App, Assignments for grading. All of other tools (pen, eraser, sheaves, etc.) work, except for the highlighter. I have the latest version of the Canvas Teacher app loaded on my new iPad Pro.

Hi again!
After some thinking, I realized that the highlighter requires text for it to work. It "sticks" to the text on a page. Highlighting hand-drawn annotations won't' work the same way.
With Canvas, you're able to create a custom marker/pen for hand-drawn annotations, so I wonder if there's be value in creating an Idea Conversation to allow mobile users to customize the color AND opacity of their pen. If you do create the idea, link back here so others who find your question can support the conversation.
