Grades/assignments can be exported. We have changed teachers in a course in PS. Before we do it, I have asked that they let me know. I go in with the teacher and export the grades from Canvas. Often times I will take a screenshot of PS as well, but only for back up. The Canvas grade export can be imported. It is just an excel file with assignment name, due date, grade, student name.
It has happened that no one mentioned a change and all of the grades/assignments are gone. However, a few times, depending on the kind of changes made in Canvas, I have been able to find that old course by searching courses. We found all of the old info and moved forward.
Students say no files appear and they have a red box saying unpublished. Im seeing all files, green box saying published for both instructor and student views.
