[Inbox] Reconsider Canvas Inbox Default messages & use

Problem statement:

Similar to other challenges I’ve offered Instructure to consider, I am a frustrated and reluctant user of Canvas Inbox - mostly because I teach 4-to-5 Canvas courses per-semester, and students’ use of Canvas inbox for messaging me is duplicative. I should have more independent access to set up things like automatic replies, re-directing students to my primary university email, rather than having Canvas’ own default messaging. So frustrating!

Proposed solution:

Allow me the opportunity for more robust personalization of settings for my Canvas Inbox, similar to the full-blown suite of options with most 21st Century email services.

I think you'd be interested in following the Theme  Improve the inbox functionality to provide for more meaningful communication. It has some of the ideas you included above. After reviewing the list of ideas included in the theme, you are always welcome to contribute something new. However, it's important that each thread only contains one request. It makes it easier for the Product Team to review and for Community members to discuss. What are the guidelines for submitting a new idea?
