[Assignments] Drop Down Options for Assignment

Problem statement:

Description: Canvas data structure currently does not allow students to select multiple options within one assignment limiting student choice of what and how they learn.

Problem: Canvas data structure for example under the Assignment category does not give students options to complete one assignment. For example, students cannot select between two options within one assignment to complete that assignment as currently structured. The course instructor would have to create another assignment. As presently constructed it narrows the scope of the student’s learning performance and restricts student-centered learning.

Proposed solution:

Desired Outcome: For Canvas to change the data structure to include options under the Assignment category, it might be a bad idea to change discussions and quizzes as well to have option for students to select from within on category.

Benefit: This would make Canvas more adaptable to learner needs, student-centered, and improves the platform’s equity and inclusion. Example: Assignment (Drop-Down-Window) Socializing Messages Option: Children Birthday Cards Options: Implicit Biases Survey Post to Canvas 10/25/2023

Proposed Solution: Change the data structure to include options under the Assignment category, it might not be a bad idea either to add options within discussions and quizzes to allow student choice within one category. Because it makes Canvas more adaptable to learner needs, student-centered, and it improves the platform’s learning equity and inclusion.
