All of our courses are set up for continuous enrollment, which means every student has a different start and end date. Days to complete courses range from 30 to 120 days.
The problem is that some of our students are forgetting to complete their course before their end date. It would be ideal if I could set up the course or Catalog listing to send a notification a few days before the course is due to end.
Is this possible? If not, is this a feature others would want to add?
If they are already enrolled in the course you can send an announcement on a particular day and time in Canvas: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-an-announcement-in-a-course/ta-p/11... @dljoyork
Thanks, Jessica, but I'd have to send an announcement to different people every day in 30 different courses! I need something that works automatically based on the course end date Catalog assigns when each student enrolls. Do you think it's possible with custom CSS?
I would recommend try combining Catalog and Canvas API and see if that works. @dljoyork
I submitted an idea to "Add Student Notification Options to Catalog". It's now open for discussion at
If you have self-paced courses, this might interest you. Please follow the link to discuss it.
I would recommend making a second post about the feature idea so people can see it and upvote it.
