Can the list of recipients for a particular badge be made public? We want to use Canvas Credentials to recognize employees who have completed a certain training. Once they have done so, those employees are eligible to be given a particular assignment. Badges are perfect for empowering the employees to share that they are eligible for that assignment.
However, the folks with appointment authority for the assignment want to see a list of people who have completed the training before they start casting about for volunteers. We don't want to give everyone with appointment authority Staff privileges in our Credentials instance and instead want to give them a list of colleagues who have been awarded the badge. The numbers are big enough (thousands of potential appointees and scores of people making appointments) that a webpage listing badge recipients meets our interests.
What is the best way to do this?
Hello. I don't know if this is the "best" way to allow people to see a list of badge recipients, but one thing we have done is to create a Canvas shell just for this purpose. All individuals who have taken, or in the process of taking, the required training are added to the shell. Additionally, those who need to see the list of people who have completed the training are added to the shell with 2 roles. They are added with the Student role. They are also added with a special role created just for this purpose. This role gives them similar privileges to the Associate Teacher role. (FYI, we found that adding folks with just the special role alone did not allow them to view the badges; they needed to be added with both the student and the special roles. This may be just our special quirk!) In our case, we added a pathway and not a single badge to the course. Those who need to check which faculty have completed the training can search by the first few letters of the faculty member's last name to access their badge record. I'm not sure how this would work for a single badge. If the badge is awarded in a Canvas shell already, then you can probably add the people who need to see that information to this course and not a Canvas shell set up specifically for the purposes of checking a badge/pathway completion.
The other way, of course, is to download the completion report from Canvas Credentials/Badgr through the Data Management tab and then filter in Excel.

Thank you Betsy! I think downloading the completion report will be the best option. Your response sparked an idea to create a page that is automatically updated as people complete those badges, and I see that there is a Canvas Badges API. I can take this back to the folks I'm working with and see if we can wrangle some programmer time to make this happen.
Hi!
Thank you for posting to the community!
For any issuer, under "Data Management" you can export all badge awards (you may adjust the start and end dates) for that issuer into a CSV. From there, you can filter for specific badges, dates, etc. I've attached a screenshot to help show where this feature is located.
Hopefully this helps!
Hi!
Do you need a special role to see the Data Management? Or have Pro? I don't see it.
Thank you!
Thank you, @BenjieMB for that reply. I see the date filter but not an option to filter by badge. That would make the download option very helpful.
Hi There!
Once you download the .CSV file and open it in whatever spreadsheet software you use, that's when you can filter by badge. Apologies if that wasn't clear earlier!
Thanks. It would be great if the filter could be applied before download (like we can with the Gradebook).
