In this Canvas Badges/Credentials release (28 August), by default, newly created custom certificates are disabled. Additionally, admins and Issuers can set a date to award badges upon completion of a course.

Feature Workflow
When editing Badge requirements, select the Trigger Type [1], click the Set date trigger for badge awarding [2], then enter the Date trigger [3].

Summary
After uploading a new custom certificate, the default status is changed to disabled. Therefore, admins and instructors must enable custom certificates manually.
Change Benefit
This change saves time and improves customization by allowing users to enable certificates selectively for specific users or badges.
Feature Workflow
After a custom template is created, edit an Issuer and select the Print Certificates link.
Scroll to the Certificate Templates and click the desired custom certificate template.
Once selected, the custom certificate template displays [1]. Then, click the Enable Template checkbox [2].
