hide grades in grade book

I can't hide the grades column before I start grading.  Why not?  I prefer to hide the entire column before I insert grades so (1) students get their grades at the same time, and (2) if I see a trend that needs to be addressed, i can revise earlier grades based on later grades.  Canvas now won't hide the column until I enter at least one grade.

Am I missing something, or is this just an unhelpful change to the platform?

Hi  @lnesbitt .  This has come up at least once recently (see Hide an assignment before grading it?).  I won't repeat the suggestions here for simplicity, but I would definitely try these and contact support if nothing changes.  I'm sure they would be interested in hearing if this type of issue arises for some folks.

Hi Eric,

I reviewed the suggestions I got, and they weren’t very helpful or accurate to the new gradebook. I checked with Canas support, and it was actually quick and easy: In the NEW gradebook, if you click the drop-down menu at the top of a column, the last choice is Grading Policy. If you click Grading Policy, another menu opens and you can select to reveal or conceal grades manually. That worked.
