Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Is it possible to get the time spent on a quiz when I download the student statistics from a quiz? One indicator of whether or not a student is trying honestly is the time spent, and I'd like to be able to download the data without having to manually enter it from the moderation page.
Christopher, I'm not sure about downloading it, but you can click on each person's name and get a log for them. It tells you the order of the questions they looked at, if they left the page, and how long on each question.
The point of downloading is to not have a tedious solution. If I have a class of 300 students, I don't want to manually grab each person.
@cvarney , you actually can get this information in a list! Go to the quiz and click "Moderate this Quiz" (button on right). On the page that comes up will be a list of all of your students and the time it took them to complete the quiz and their score. In the past I've often scrolled through this page looking for exceptional scores done in a VERY (unusually) short amount of time. I will often then use this information to do a deep dive on specific students using the quiz log that @9927744 referenced above.
Hope this helps!

This is not a solution since as far as I can tell, anytime a student spends 45 minutes or more on a 60-minute quiz, it says "finished in about 1 hour" which is worthless since many times, over half of my students spend between 45-60 minutes on a quiz. The Student Analysis report gives the time submitted so it seems logical that the time spent could be included as well.
@cvarney ,
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.

Kona provided a solution that kind of works but what I want is not available. I still want the ability to download the data. I have to copy-paste the webpage in order to get it into a spreadsheet.
Hi, I'd like to upvote @cvarney 's question. There is no reason why Canvas LMS can't produce this timestamp information at finer precision (i.e., not rounded to the nearest minute) in a downloadable, tidy CSV format.
