Module Prerequisites and Locking Individual Assignments

I added prerequisites to a Module and students cant access the Module or the assignments in the module until meeting the prerequisite BUT they can access the assignments through the Assignment link in the course navigation which undermines the point of adding a prerequisite. I don't want to remove the Assignment link. Is there some way to disable assignments in the Assignment link until they have unlocked the Module?

You are correct that they will still be able to see links to the Assignment from Assignments, and also on their To Do list and syllabus.  But, if they click on the link they should be a message saying it is locked; something like "This assignment is part of the module X which has not yet been unlocked due to the prereqs of Modules xyz".

Thank you so much.  I hadn't taken the next step and clicked on a visible assignment to see it was not accessible.
