How to copy a course without "copy course" showing in sidebar menu?

I would like to copy one of my previous courses into a new shell for Fall, and I reviewed all the steps on line in the help to copy a course, Settings, Copy Course, but I do not have "copy this course" listed in my sidebar menu. Why is that? and how do I load "copy this course" onto my side bar menu?
Thank you for any help you can offer!

Melinda,
If you don't have the Copy Course button it may be because your admins have hidden it (my school does this) or that you don't have access to create your own courses. When using the Copy Course button it does create a new copy.
If the course shell already exists what you need to do is to go to your new course and import the content from the past course. Here is a guide https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12935-415257077
For schools who automatically create course shells and manage the enrollments it's important to use this method so that you are using the course set up to sync with the student information system.
Hope that helps,
Rick
