Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hi,
Raised this with Canvas as well, but hoping to find a way around it.
I am able to create Rubrics and Outcomes to an assignment in the root level and import these Rubrics and Outcomes to an assignment. We do not want Rubrics/ Outcomes to be visible from students. Is there a way to hide these features or some work around it.
Thanks in advance.
Ashok

@ashok_thapa , as far as I’m aware, no, there is no way to hide rubrics from students if they are attached to an assignment. The only thing I can think of is doing some custom global JavaScript that would block it from student view.

Hi @kona
If there is an option to assign Rubrics/ Outcome to assignment by default, that would save some time for us.
Well, looks like we have to custom code this. Hopefully will succeed too.
Thanks for the info.

Got an update from Canvas that we can hide Rubrics from enabling "Turn It In". It is not a free application for integration which would ask 'customer key' and 'shared key'.
Canvas is looking into other integration apps that does similar function.
Hope this helps.

I would also like to hid the rubric. Except I want it so the students and I can UNHIDE it.
Most of my rubrics are very long and it's a real pain for both the students and me to have to scroll, scroll, scroll to get to the next thing to do. I would like to have them hidden and set up so either the students and I can unhide them to look at them.
Hi all, @ashok_thapa, @kona ,
Has there been any updates to this since the last reply? A way to hide rubrics? A free app that can be integrated that hides the rubric? Or a code to hide it?
Thank you!
HI all, I wanted to add some clarification or nuance to my need to be able to hide parts of a rubric from students. We want to use Outcomes for program level student learning assessment and so want to import outcomes and add them to rows of a rubric being used to assess an assignment in a class. We really appreciate the option to choose if the outcome should be used as part of grading the submitted work. We want the same type of option to exist for whether the outcome row of the rubric is even visible to students. If it's not part of their grade, and the purpose is for the program to see how well it's doing by assessing a large sample of student work, then the student seeing it and the instructor having to explain it and explain the score given, is not helpful. It turns out that this discourages faculty from wanting to use this approach, which could really streamline collecting outcomes data. It would be a great improvement if Canvas would make it possible to control if the outcome criteria were visible or not.
