Email notification for new Canvas Email?

I am new Canvas, and I was surprised to see that I receive no email notification when a student sends a message through Canvas (there is only a notification dot that appears over the Canvas Inbox icon). 

Is there a way to receive an email notification when a students sends a message through Canvas and/or the full text of the message to my Outlook inbox?

Yes, you can set your own notification preferences to send you and email when you get an Inbox message. Learn how at https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13111-4152719738

Hi Kelley, thank you for welcoming me!

When I look at my notifications, I see a section labeled "Conversations", and I am set up to be Notified Right Away for both "Added to Conversation" and "Conversation Message", but I am still not receiving notifications for new Canvas Inbox messages. The email address listed on the Notifications page is my correct email, too.

Am I looking at the wrong section/items, or is this a bug for which I should I submit a help ticket?

I agree with the original poster - it seems like Canvas should call it "Inbox" or "Messages" rather than "Conversations" when picking notifications - consistent terminology.
