Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I was trying to update my profile pic with a different profile pic. I went into files to upload a picture under Account>Filesand I get this message "Error: file size exceeds quota". I also noticed on the left that I have used 285% of 52.4MB.

Hi @eric_basham Welcome to the Canvas Community. Thanks for posting your question. It definitely looks like you are going to need to clear out some of the files you have saved in your personal "Files" area of Canvas. (The "Submissions" folder, by the way, is where a copy of all file submissions for any of the assignments you've submitted to instructors would be stored...and those files cannot be deleted. Also, files in this folder do not count against your quota.) On the left side of your personal "Files" screen, look for the "My Files" folder. Then, dive into each of the folders within that folder. Do you see any large files in any of those folders that could be deleted? You might need to do a bit of housekeeping in these folders so that you are under your allowed quota. How do I delete a file or folder as an instructor? (Please note: Although this Guide is describing how to delete files in a course, the process is pretty much the same for deleting files from your personal "Files" area.)
Once you have cleaned out some of your files, then you should be able to edit/change your profile picture in Canvas.
How do I add a profile picture in my user account as an instructor?
I hope this information will be of help to you, Eric. Please sing out if you have any questions...thanks!

Wow this helped me so much!
I've had instructors take off points because I couldn't upload a photo. Some say to try different browsers, or different computers, and different phones and the app, although NONE of that worked for me. I even tried resizing the photo. But deleting Files cleared up space for me an upload a profile photo.
