Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
where do you go to see the virtual book shelf?
As far as I know, and I've been using Canvas for 6 years, there is no Canvas feature called the virtual bookshelf. Likely this is a custom feature at your school. If you could provide more information, I might be able to find you some help.
It looks like you are at Barton College, and if this is true, this support info might be helpful: If you have any questions, please contact the I.T. Help Desk at 252-399-6436 or email support@barton.edu.

Hello there, @george_wilson ...
I have been reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I stumbled upon your question. I wanted to check in with you because I noticed that we have not heard back from you since you first posted this question on July 3, 2018. It looks like @kmeeusen replied to you later that afternoon. Have you had an opportunity to review his response? Did his feedback help to answer your question? Or, are you still looking for some help with your question? If you feel that Kelley's feedback has helped to answer your question, please feel free to mark his answer as "Correct". However, if you are still looking for some help from Community members, please come back to this topic to post an update for us so that someone from the Community might be able to assist you. For now, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" because we have not heard back from you and because there hasn't been any new activity in this topic for about five months. However, that will not prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's alright with you, George. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon!
I don't see the bookshelf feature either, so I'm guessing it is an external tool that each school chooses to integrate whether or not to integrate. I work for two colleges that both use Canvas, and it isn't on either one. I was hoping to be able to put my own epub books into my Canvas courses. It looks like it comes from a company called "Vitalsource", so I'll ask them as well.
